  3. It isn't always easy to reach the mouse and computer keyboard
  4. while you are trying to record at your Synthesizer.
  5. This page lets you control some parts of 
  6. Anvil Studio's user interface from your MIDI keyboard.
  7. For example, you can use it to start/stop recording when you
  8. step on a MIDI foot-switch, or wiggle a Modulation wheel, or press the lowest note on the keyboard.

  10. First, select the Anvil Studio Action you want to control remotely.
  11. Then, press a note, step on a foot switch, or trigger any other MIDI event.
  12. <br><br>
  13. If the MIDI event you select is a switch, like Sustain,
  14. then a <b>On starts, Off stops</b> checkbox appears.
  15. If this box is checked for Stop/Start Recording, then you need to press
  16. the pedal to star recording, and release the pedal to stop recording.
  17. If it is not checked, then you need to press the pedal once to start
  18. recording, and then push it again to stop recording.

  22. If <b>Save Settings on Exit</b> is checked, then whenever
  23. Anvil Studio starts, it loads the song file you last loaded and
  24. turns to the page you were last working on.

  26. If <b>Enable HTML Help</b> is checked, Anvil Studio uses Internet Explorer
  27. to display help information at the bottom of each page.

  29. If <b>Always create a trouble-shooting log file</b> is checked,
  30. Anvil Studio generates a trouble-shooting log file every time it is run.
  31. This causes Anvil Studio to run a little slower, so it should only
  32. be used when trying to track down an problem that seldom occurs.

  34. If <b>Real-time Audio Mixing</b> is checked,
  35. audio tracks are mixed while the song is playing.
  36. If your computer is a 486 instead of a Pentium,<sup>™</sup>   or if it has less
  37. than 32 megabytes of RAM, it may not be fast enough for <i>Real-time mixing</i>.
  38. You will know if you get an error message when you try to play a song.
  39. If so, turn <b>Real-time Audio Mixing</b> off, so that Audio tracks will be mixed before
  40. the song is played.
